Replacing an SD card

Replacing an SD card

The SD card in a CUBE can be replaced if the card is determined to have failed. You need to be aware of these things before replacing an SD card:

  • The CUBE uses a special industrial-designed SD card. These are only available directly from CUBE. Do not try to use a generic SD card in the CUBE. It will simply not function.
  • The encrypted CubeOS comes loaded on the new SD card from CUBE, however you will need to "Activate" the new SD card to that particular CUBE.

Replacing an SD card when CUBE is at your location:

  1. Login to cubemc.net
  2. Go to the CUBE you want to replace the SD card on.
  3. Click the "Activate SD Card" link in the list at the bottom
  4. Enter the new SD serial number in that field and click Activate. (for MicroSD cards simply enter "0" without quotes)
  5. Insert new SD card into CUBE, making sure to fully insert until it clicks into place. The card should be recessed into the slot, requiring the use of a flat tool to fully insert.
  6. Power up the CUBE. It will take about 5 minutes to activate the first time. Once the CUBE plays music from the headphone jack, it is ready to be powered down, or installed.

Replacing an SD card when CUBE is at your customer's location:
This needs to be done in coordination with your customer!

  1. Once your customer receives the new SD card, have them call you from a location near the CUBE
  2. Have them power down the CUBE by unplugging the power connector
  3. Have them remove the old SD card from the CUBE
  4. Have them locate the serial number of the new SD card, and read that to you.
  5. You will login to cubemc.net
  6. Go to the CUBE you want to replace the SD card on by clicking that CUBE's name
  7. Click the "Activate SD Card" link in the list near the bottom
  8. Enter the new SD serial number in that field and click Activate, then click Save
  9. Have your customer insert new SD card into CUBE, making sure to fully insert until it clicks into place. The card should be recessed into the slot, requiring the use of a flat tool to fully insert.
  10. Have your customer power up the CUBE. It will take about 5 minutes to activate the first time. Once the CUBE plays music from the headphone jack, the replacement process is complete.
